Dean Zellers

Dean K. Zellers, 68, of Chapman, departed April 10, 2012, at Nebraska Medical Center surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 11, 1944, in Marion, Kan., the son of Delphine (Peterson) and Kenneth Otto Zelers. He was the older of two siblings. On Aug. 21, 1964, he married Marilyn Talley at West Side Baptist Church in Wichita.

Dean attended Wichita public schools and graduated from Wichita State University in 1967. He taught world history and social sciences for Junction City High School for 32 years. He also taught for Cloud County Community College.

Dean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Junction City, KNEA, NEA and R.S. Prussia International.

Dean was a devoted son, husband and father.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth Zellers; wife, Marilyn, of Chapman; two daughters, Lisa Zodrow of Chapman and Amy and Jeff Myers of Wichita; grandchildren Ashley and Kendall Zodrow of Chapman.

Mr. Zellers was preceded in death by his mother, Delphine Zellers, of Chapman; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Nancy Zellers of Bartlesville, Okla.

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 10 a.m., friends and family will celebrate Dean’s life at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. Fifth St., Junction City. A private family burial is planned.

Memorial contributions may be given to Dean K. Zellers Scholarship Fund or American Juvenile Diabetes Association in care of Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
