
Richard Alan Clarey passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 76, due to complications of heart surgery. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 18, 1944 but spent his childhood and young adulthood in Wichita, Kansas. He bravely served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967 then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 1960s. He moved to Covington, Louisiana later in life.
Richard was known for his jovial and generous nature. He was an avid golfer and a fixture at Beau Chene Country Club, where he worked until right before his death.
He is survived by his brothers, David Clarey, Donald Clarey, and Michael Clarey and his sister, Patricia Clarey. He is also survived by his son, Bryan Richard Clarey; daughter, Helen Bain Verdin; his grandson, Gage Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard joins his mother and father, Lois and Donald Clarey; first son, Marc Alan Clarey; and his wife, Trudy Truelove Clarey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by Military Honors on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
