Cecil Wayne Staley

Havana, Kansas

Cecil Wayne Staley, 79 of Havana, Kansas passed away peacefully at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Friday, October 13, 2023.

Cecil was welcomed into the loving arms of his parents, George and Wanita (Morgan) Staley on April 12, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas. Cecil attended and graduated from West High School in 1962, and then shortly after graduation he enlisted into the United States Army, proudly serving 4 years. After serving his country, Cecil returned home to Wichita and married the love of his life, Linda Protheroe. Cecil began working for the City of Wichita in the water and fire department. He worked for the City of Wichita for 33 years before retiring. In 2003, Cecil and Linda relocated to Havana, Kansas. Cecil loved to tinker around in the yard working on various projects. He always looked forward to their family camping trips at Marion and John Redman lakes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.

Cecil’s memory will carry on with his wife, Linda, sons, Brian, Steven and Wayne Staley, daughter, April Cleaver, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence on Thursday, October 26th with the family greeting friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, October 27th at Potts Chapel with burial following at Resthaven Garden of Memory in Wichita, Kansas.
